Nancy Belknap is licensed by the state of California as a clinical counselor in the field of addiction(s), specializing in work with adults, seniors, families, and veterans. The field of practice includes loss/grief, trauma, relational difficulties/challenges, individual, families and couples, chronic relapse, self-esteem, anxiety, coping and life skills, anger management, and life transitions.
Nancy maintains a private practice in Santa Barbara and provides counseling services and relapse prevention work to IOPs in Santa Barbara. She has 18 years of experience in the arena of addiction and counseling.
She has facilitated and managed treatment programs in Santa Barbara, concurrent to her private practice and is well noted for her ability to embody kindness, empathy, compassion, and the grace of wisdom to help facilitate the recognition of the clients own strengths and ability to participate fully in their own lives.
Nancy studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and UNISA, the University of South Africa, completing a double major in Art History and Philosophy, as well as an Associate’s degree in theology. She also completed an Associate’s degree in Addiction Counseling (Phi Theta Cappa) from Santa Barbara City College.
She is currently an affiliate member of the Santa Barbara Chapter of CAMFT – California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
